Brian R. Evans, Esquire, was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but moved to the Tampa Bay area at a young age. While attending the Florida State University College of Law, Brian was an active participant in the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program (TCE). Brian also participated in the Florida State University College of Law Clinical Externship Program where he gained valuable criminal trial experience as a Certified Legal Extern for the Office of the Public Defender for the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida. Additionally, during his third year of law school, Brian was a legal clerk for a small workers’ compensation insurance defense firm in Tallahassee, Florida.

Following graduation from law school, Brian gained additional criminal trial experience prosecuting a wide variety of criminal cases as an Assistant State Attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida. In July 2004, Brian moved back to the Tampa Bay area after accepting a position with the firm.

Practice Focus:

Workers’ Compensation: Brian represents employers, insurance carriers, and servicing agents in workers’ compensation matters under Chapter 440.

Brian also represents defendants in criminal matters including felonies, misdemeanors, traffic crimes such as driving under the influence, acts of juvenile delinquency, and criminal violations of county and municipal ordinances.



Representive Engagements:

Since joining the firm, Brian has actively monitored, evaluated, analyzed, and litigated a full caseload of Florida workers’ compensation cases from initial evaluation through settlement and subrogation resolution, if applicable.

Brian has also successfully tried multiple issues in front of numerous Judges of Compensation Claims throughout Florida.

Brian has appellate experience drafting initial, answer, reply and cross-reply briefs in accordance with the standards of the Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure.

Brian has orally argued Florida workers’ compensation appeals before the First District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee, Florida.

Brian successfully represented a criminal defendant in a highly publicized trespassing case in Tampa, Florida.

Presentations and Publications:

Brian has participated in numerous firm-related seminars on various Florida workers’ compensation topics presented for the benefit of employer representatives and adjusters.

Professional and Community Involvement:

Brian is a member of the Florida Bar, the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association.
