Janelle Koren is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Suffolk University Law School, magna cum laude, in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Suffolk, she was a member of the Suffolk University Law Review, Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, and Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. She currently represents insurance carriers and employers in the area of workers’ compensation defense litigation. She is a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and the Florida Bar. During college, Ms. Koren was a legal intern in Washington, D.C. for The Washington Center and interned for a civil defense litigation firm and gained experience in construction litigation, general civil litigation, and medical malpractice defense.


Practice Focus:

Workers' Compensation Defense: Ms. Koren primarily represents insurance carriers and employers in the area of workers' compensation insurance defense at the trial and appellate levels.



Representive Engagements:

Ms. Koren has primarily represented employers, insurance carriers, and leasing companies in administrative hearings before several Judges of Compensation Claims throughout the State of Florida and the First District Court of Appeal of Florida.

Ms. Koren has experience in filing complaints in circuit and county court as well as discovery matters in general civil litigation



Presentations and Publications:

Ms. Koren has spoke at several seminars for representatives of insurance companies, employers and leasing companies on the topics of trial preparation, use of evidence at trial, permanent total disability claims, ethical considerations in handling workers’ compensation claims, and pursing fraud in the area of workers’ compensation.

Professional and Community Involvement:

Ms. Koren is a member of the Florida Bar, the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar, Hillsborough County Bar Association, Hillsborough Association of Women Lawyers, Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, and the American Bar Association.

Ms. Koren also volunteers her time at Bay Area Legal Services.
