Professional and Community Involvement:

John Wendel has represented numerous professional sports clubs. Clubs include: Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros, Toronoto Blue Jays, The Futures Golf Tour, Inc., and the Eastern League of Professional Baseball Clubs, Inc.

John Wendel has lectured on sports law matters to: continuing legal education audiences (The Florida Bar on various occasions, Texas Bar on two occasions, Georgia Bar on two occasions, and Upper Ontario [Canada] Law Society), at law schools, at sports law conferences and seminars sponsored by ABA, Sports Lawyers Association, sports law seminars in London, England and Cardiff, Wales, and at meetings in Oslo, Norway, Nurnberg, Germany, and Budapest, Hungary.

One of the co-founders of the international Sports Lawyers Association, an initial director and officer, continued as an officer and director for several years, elected president for successive years, and now director emeritus. Received Association’s Award of Excellence in 1993.

Past board member, officer, and president Florida Association of County Attorneys, Inc.

Past member of Executive Council of the Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Section of The Florida Bar.

Past co-owner of four professional, Minor League baseball clubs. Teams include: The South Bend White Sox, Rockford Expos, Erie Orioles, Pocatello Giants, and the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the independent Northwoods League. John is also one of the co-founders of the Northwoods League in Ontario, Canada.
